The Portevant Indian Mound is the largest remaining Indian mound on Florida's west coast. It is located on Snead Island in Manatee County. Photo shows walkway to the top of the mound.

In 1910 the homestead was purchased by Peter and Golden Marine who planted an avenue of royal palms from the foot of the mound to the Manatee River.
